How the civil ceremony works at Markham Civic Centre
Both rooms are at the Markham Civic Centre, 101 Town Centre Boulevard. The Wedding Chapel seats up to 40 people and the Wedding Room holds up to 10. When you arrange a ceremony in either space, the City provides a registered officiant Monday to Friday. The chapel itself is available seven days a week between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., booked in one-hour blocks, and the City asks you to confirm your time with the officiant or clergy member you have chosen. You can also play your own music through the chapel's Bluetooth audio system.
Pairing a Markham Civic Centre ceremony with your nikah
Because the chapel can be booked with your own clergy, a registered imam can perform the nikah and the legal marriage together in the chapel, including on weekends. If you would rather keep them separate, use the Wedding Room with a City officiant for an intimate civil ceremony and hold the nikah at your masjid. The Bluetooth system is handy for a recitation or nasheed as you walk in.

Photos and video are allowed inside the Chapel, the Wedding Room and the Great Hall when you book your wedding at the Civic Centre, so there is a good indoor fallback.

City hall portraits are often taken in public, sometimes in front of parents and elders. A few decisions made in advance keep the photos comfortable for everyone.
Agree on touch before the day
Some couples are comfortable holding hands after the nikah, others prefer no touch at all in public. Tell your photographer in advance so poses are planned, not improvised in front of family.

Walking side by side, a shared look, foreheads almost touching, or framing the couple through a doorway all read as intimate without physical contact.
